The MacBook Air also introduces an innovative six-speaker sound system, providing an immersive audio experience with Spatial Audio. It features a high-quality 1080p FaceTime HD camera, convenient MagSafe charging, and the intuitive macOS Ventura operating system. “We’re thrilled to introduce the first 15-inch MacBook Air. With its incredible performance and striking design, the new MacBook Air is the world’s best 15-inch laptop. And it’s only possible with Apple silicon,” said John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering. Here are some of its key features Design and display The MacBook Air has a spacious 15.3-inch liquid retina display. The brightness of the display goes up to 500 nits, supports one billion colours, resulting in rich and vibrant content. The display has twice the resolution compared to a comparable PC laptop. It is also 25 percent brighter than a comparable PC laptop. The laptop measures only 11.5mm thin, making it the world’s thinnest 15-inch laptop. It weighs just 3.3 pounds. The MacBook Air is also nearly 40 per cent thinner and half a pound lighter than a comparable PC laptop. It also features MagSafe charging, two Thunderbolt ports for connecting accessories and up to a 6K external display, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack for versatile connectivity. Performance and battery life with M2 The MacBook Air powered by the M2 chip offers incredible performance. It is up to 12x faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air. When compared to the 15-inch PC laptop with a Core i7 processor, the MacBook Air is up to twice as fast. It delivers extraordinary battery life, with up to 18 hours, which is 50 per cent more than on a PC. It features an 8-core CPU with four performance cores and four efficiency cores, a 10-core GPU for fast graphics, and a 16-core Neural Engine. The M2 chip provides 100GB/s of memory bandwidth and supports up to 24GB of fast unified memory. 1080p FaceTime HD camera and six-speaker sound system The MacBook Air has a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, perfect for FaceTime calls and video conferencing. The advanced image signal processor on the M2 chip enhances the camera’s performance, making users look great on video calls. The laptop features a three-mic array with advanced beamforming algorithms, ensuring clear and crisp audio during video calls. The laptop features a six-speaker sound system. It includes two tweeters and two sets of force-cancelling woofers for enhanced audio quality. Spatial Audio with support for Dolby Atmos creates immersive experiences for music and movie playback. Powerful productivity with macOS macOS Ventura enhances the Mac experience and allows users to achieve more. Messages and Mail have been improved to provide a better user experience. Safari is the fastest browser on Mac and introduces passkeys for a passwordless future. Continuity Camera brings video conferencing features to any Mac, including Desk View, Center Stage and Studio Light. Stage Manager automatically organises apps and windows, allowing users to focus on their tasks while having a comprehensive view. iCloud Shared Photo Library enables the creation and sharing of a separate photo library among up to six family members. The Freeform app provides a flexible canvas for enhanced productivity and expression. Continuity features like Handoff, AirDrop, Universal Clipboard and Messages allow effortless work across Mac and iPhone. Pricing and availability of MacBook Air The laptop is available to order today on apple.com/store and in the Apple Store app and will start arriving to customers, and in Apple Store locations and Apple Authorised Resellers, beginning Tuesday, June 13. The 15-inch MacBook Air with M2, available in midnight, starlight, silver and space gray, starts at $1,299 and $1,199 for education. The 13-inch MacBook Air with M2, available in midnight, starlight, silver and space gray, now starts at $1,099 and $999 for education. The 13-inch MacBook Air with M1, available in gold, silver and space gray, remains in the lineup, starting at $999 and $899 for education.
