Amazon launches on-demand home services in UAE including disinfection, car washing and pet grooming

Amazon has launched its Amazon Home Services, a new marketplace for on-demand professional services, in the UAE on Tuesday.

During the launch phase, customers in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah can book over 70 services across Home care, Automotive, Pet care and Cleaning categories, among others.

The range of services, available on amazon.ae/services on browsers or via its app, include home cleaning, AC cleaning, mobile repairs, pet grooming, car washing, and furniture assembly.

Also, home disinfection and furniture cleaning services are offered to customers as well.

Additionally, those who purchase products such as TVs, treadmills, sports equipment, furniture, desks and office chairs on Amazon.ae can also opt for professional installation and assembly services via the new Amazon Home Services.

Amazon says that it has curated an invite-only marketplace of professional service providers. The selected service providers are vetted to ensure that they possess applicable insurances and licences.

One such service provider is Magic Home Building Cleaning Services. “We appreciate Amazon’s efforts and approach to ensuring customer satisfaction, and we’re confident that working with Amazon Home Services will help expand our customer base so that our business can continue to grow,’’ said Ashraf Abdlazim, owner of Magic Home Building Cleaning Services.

Similarly, Helpbit services too will now be available via the Amazon Home Services.

To ensure the safety of its customers, Amazon has rolled out health and safety guidelines for all its service providers.

They are required to comply with Covid-19 directives from national authorities such as the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the Department of Economic Development in the UAE, as well as global practices specified by the World Health Organization (WHO).

To schedule a service, customers can add their desired services to their cart and specify the date and time for the job to be executed.

Each service that is booked comes with a pre-defined scope of work and an upfront pricing, protecting customers from any possible hidden fees after the service is completed.

Amazon’s Happiness Guarantee programme allows those dissatisfied with the services to register their complaints and to have them addressed, to seek refunds in certain instances and even cover property-related damage upto a pre-determined amount.

Amazon acquired Dubai-based souq.com in a deal estimated at around $580m in March 2017.

Souq.com in the UAE officially rebranded to Amazon.ae in May last year.

Last month, souq.com in Saudi Arabia too was rebranded to Amazon.sa.
