Home UAE Abu Dhabi Al Rawabi to establish Dhs650m dairy production facility in Abu Dhabi The plant located in the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi is expected to produce 23 million litres in its first operational year by Varun Godinho March 9, 2022 UAE-based Al Rawabi will set up a Dhs650m dairy production facility in the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD). KIZAD is part of the AD Ports Group’s Economic Cities & Free Zones (EC&FZ) cluster and has signed a lease agreement with Al Rawabi to establish the plant. Al Rawabi will initially develop the facility across 2 sq km in KIZAD, with an additional 3 sq km earmarked as part of its future expansion plans. The dairy farm will be home to 10,000 cows and will help to boost Al Rawabi’s exports across the wider GCC region. Al Rawabi’s new dairy production facility in KIZAD will include milk parlours, a dairy plant, a mechanic and maintenance workshop, a feed factory, staff accommodation, and a biogas plant along with fertilizer manufacturing amenities. Additionally, 10 megawatts of clean power will be generated by equipping a large portion of site assets with solar panels, reducing the operational costs and CO2 emissions at the site. In addition to supporting the advancement of local farms and creating job opportunities in the local farming sector, our agreement presents a positive boost for regional consumers by offering easier access to fresh produce.” To boost the UAE’s food security, Abu Dhabi’s AD Ports Group recently partnered with UAE conglomerate Ghassan Aboud Group, to establish one of the region’s largest wholesale food trading and logistics hub in KIZAD. The food hub will assemble wholesale buyers, sellers, logistics players and distributors from across the world.
