Ajman Free Zone’s tech sector records 21% growth in 2021

The number of tech companies in the integrated business hub reached more than 550 in 2021

The Ajman Free Zone (AFZ) released the results of its 2021 operational performance in the technology sector and reported significant growth of 21 per cent compared to 2020.

The business hub currently hosts over 550 registered companies in the sector.

The positive growth in results indicates the growing confidence of foreign investors and technology companies in AFZ’s offerings in the sector.

Moreover, the sustained growth in the sector also points to AFZ’s willingness to contribute to the advancement of technology in Ajman. The free zone continues to play a pivotal role in technological advancements and upgrades in line with the UAE’s vision for the next 50 years, a statement said.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, chairman of the Board of Ajman Free Zones Authority, said: “The results and indicators recorded by AFZ are a testament to the effectiveness of our operational performance and strategies for the technology sector. We are proud of this achievement and see it as an incentive to further develop our services and capabilities to meet the growing aspirations and needs of the tech community. We would also like to reinstate our commitment to offering a wide range of initiatives and incentives for tech companies to help achieve their objectives. As we continue our efforts in diversifying our economy, we will make every effort to support the tech community, empowering them to be effective partners in achieving sustainable development. We are confident that our efforts will help transform AFZ into an ideal incubator for technology companies.”

AFZ seeks to help companies grow and expand, facilitate easier business processes, and attract more foreign investors who can benefit from Ajman’s competitive advantages as one of the top regional investment destinations.

Meanwhile, the free zone has also focused on developing automation programmes to accelerate digital transformation – implementing new initiatives and products like the artificial intelligence robotics hub, a one-stop-shop for entrepreneurs, entities, and SMEs to explore new business opportunities network with industry experts, and acquire new skills.
