Air France plans to temporarily deploy an Airbus A380 on its Paris-Dubai route in January 2019, according to aviation website Routesonline.

The airline filed operational aircraft changes for the Paris Charles de Gaulle – Dubai service earlier this month, it said.

The jumbo jet will be deployed on the route from January 14 to 27 on a daily basis, replacing the existing 10 weekly flights operated on Airbus A330-200 and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

The A380 flight will depart from Paris at 1.30pm and arrive in Dubai at 11.25pm. The return flight will leave Dubai at 1.45am and arrive in the French city at 6.20am.

Air France aims to reduce the frequency of the scheduled service by increasing passenger capacity with the number of weekly seats rising from 5,392 to 7,224, according to reports.

The carrier will compete with Dubai airline Emirates, which flies the A380 three times daily to Paris.

The Dubai carrier also recently announced two additional flights per week to Lyon in France and one to Paris.

Emirates said the additions would give travellers from Lyon and Paris more choice for connecting flights to cities in Asia.
