ADX Q1 trading soars on foreign, institutional inflows
ADX’s market capitalisation climbed by 3.2 per cent year-on-year to exceed Dhs2.93tn at the end of Q1 2025
Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) posted robust growth in Q1 2025, driven by a sharp rise in liquidity and strong participation from foreign and institutional investors, official data showed.
The value of foreign investor trades, including both buy and sell transactions, jumped by about 62.2 per cent to Dhs69.79bn in Q1 2025, up from Dhs43.03bn in the same period last year.
Foreign net investment soared 151 per cent, rising from approximately Dhs3.4bn in Q1 2024 to over Dhs8.5bn this year, underlining increased international confidence in the UAE capital markets, reports published by Bloomberg and state news agency, WAM, stated.
Foreign investors accounted for 42 per cent of total trading value during the quarter, compared to 31 per cent a year earlier, marking an 11-percentage-point rise in their market share.
ADX market capital rises 3.2 per cent
ADX’s market capitalisation climbed by 3.2 per cent year-on-year to exceed Dhs2.93tn at the end of Q1 2025, up from Dhs2.84tn.
Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) saw their market value more than double, rising 109 per cent to approximately Dhs1.64bn, compared with Dhs784.4m in Q1 2024, indicating growing investor appetite for diversified investment vehicles, WAM reported.
Overall market liquidity improved significantly. The total trading value rose nearly 21 per cent to Dhs83.3bn from Dhs68.95bn while traded volume grew by 39 per cent to over 22.45 billion shares, up from 16.11 billion.
The number of executed trades increased by 41 per cent to 1.35 million, compared to 961,800 in the same period last year.
Institutional investors also expanded their footprint, with trading value rising 22 per cent to over Dhs134.9bn, up from around Dhs110.6bn in Q1 2024.
