Abu Dhabi’s ADQ launches new lab testing company Union 71

Abu Dhabi’s ADQ to has launched a new laboratory testing firm, Union 71, to meet the requirements of healthcare providers in the UAE.

Union71 will initially be responsible for delivering diagnostic services to Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA).

“By separating the laboratory business from SEHA, Union71 will focus on delivering faster, lower cost and more accessible testing through a diagnostics-based approach for healthcare providers,” said Jaap Kalkman, chief investment officer at ADQ.

The services provided by the lab include complex lab testing capabilities, sub-speciality consultant pathologists and experience technologists.

The lab will have specialised equipment not commonly available at other labs in the country and it will also have the ability to rapidly ramp up testing in emergency situations.

The lab aims to improve healthcare outcomes, reduce costs and provide faster and more reliable results, reported news agency WAM.

Union71 will adhere to ISO15189 and CAP standards while supporting clinical workflow.

“We are confident that our new partner, Union71, will deliver the highest quality lab results quickly to help us ensure we are delivering world-class patient care,” added Dr Gareth Goodier, CEO of SEHA.

Besides SEHA, ADQ’s healthcare portfolio also includes health insurer the National Health Insurance Company, Daman, and Rafed, a new group purchasing organisation to manage and develop the procurement of healthcare-related products.
