Home UAE Abu Dhabi Abu Dhabi: Prior Covid-19 PCR testing mandatory for guests attending events Staff organizing and present at the venues must undergo Covid-19 PCR tests every week by Varun Godinho March 9, 2021 All guests attending business and entertainment events in Abu Dhabi must undergo a Covid-19 PCR tests 48 hours prior to doing so, officials confirmed on Monday. In a circular issued by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi on March 8 to tourism and hotel establishments as well as event organisers, the department said that venue and organising staff of these events must undergo a Covid-19 PCR test every week. Also, attendance of guests at business events has been restricted to 50 per cent of the capacity. Entertainment events, and only those which have been authorised by DCT Abu Dhabi, will be permitted to go head but must limit guest attendance to 30 per cent of the full capacity. The department also instructed beaches and swimming pools to operate at 60 per cent of their capacity. It warned that DCT Abu Dhabi’s inspectors would visit tourism, hotel establishments and events to verify compliance with the directives. Among the previously issued and prevailing Covid-19 restrictions, the operating capacity of shopping malls have been capped at 40 per cent; taxis to 45 per cent; gyms, private beaches and swimming pools to 50 per cent; restaurants, coffee shops, hotels, and parks to 60 per cent and buses to 75 per cent.
