Abu Dhabi launches free Covid-19 vaccination campaign

The free Covid-19 vaccine is available for all UAE residents and nationals

Abu Dhabi has launched a free Covid-19 vaccination campaign for all UAE nationals and residents.

Under the patronage of the capital’s Department of Health and the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, the ‘Choose to Vaccinate’ campaign is for everyone to receive their shot to protect themselves against Covid-19.

Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Hamed, chairman of Department of Health – Abu Dhabi said: “We want to ensure our people continue to be safe, which is why the vaccines have undergone rigorous trials to ensure their safety, efficacy and quality.

“I hope you choose to vaccinate to protect your health and the health of our nation.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Jamal Mohammed Alkaabi, Undersecretary of Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, said: “The approved Covid-19 vaccines are safe and will give recipients the immunity needed to protect themselves. I hope everyone chooses to vaccinate to help get our lives back to normal.”

Abu Dhabi’s neighbouring emirate Dubai also commenced its Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination campaign last month.

The UAE officially registered the Sinopharm and Pfizer BioNTech vaccine for use last month.

In November 2020, Abu Dhabi launched an initiative called the Hope Consortium which aims to serve as a logistics platform to coordinate and facilitate the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine around the world.

The consortium, led by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, aims to distribute 18 billion Covid-19 vaccines by the end of 2021.
