Fathey most recently served as the chief operating officer at Mediclinic Middle East. Salem Al Noaimi, chairman of SEHA, said: “He brings with him expertise that is essential for our commitment to patient-centricity and advancing care.” SEHA, the largest healthcare network in the UAE, owns and operates all the public hospitals and clinics in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. Set up to support Abu Dhabi’s wider healthcare sector reform, it is responsible for public healthcare centres and hospitals across the emirate. SEHA is part of state-owned conglomerate ADQ, one of the region’s largest holding companies with a diverse portfolio of major enterprises spanning key sectors of Abu Dhabi’s non-oil economy. The company has been at the forefront of the UAE’s efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic including overseeing clinical trials of vaccines, and the opening of testing and vaccination centres across the country. Recently, it has also worked towards establishing alliances with international medical centres such as the King Fahad Specialist Hospital in Saudi Arabia.
