Abu Dhabi Crown Prince meets with Afghan President

The two countries signed agreements covering energy, education, culture, sports and agriculture

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Ashraf Ghani, President of Afghanistan in the UAE capital on Sunday.

The Afghan President was welcomed with an official reception ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi, with the national anthems of both the countries played. A 21-gun salute was also fired in his honour.

During the official talks in Abu Dhabi, the two leaders discussed enhancing bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

They also witnessed the signing of memorandums of understanding between the two countries on energy, education, culture, sports and agriculture, according to a message on Sheikh Mohamed’s Twitter account.

Ghani previously met with Sheikh Mohamed in February 2017 in Abu Dhabi, after an explosion in southern Kandahar province killed five UAE diplomats.
