An Emirati soldier has died while taking part in the Saudi-led Arab coalition’s Operation Restoring Hope in Yemen, the General Headquarters of the UAE Armed Forces said on Saturday. The Saudi-led coalition has been fighting Houthi rebels and forces loyal to former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh in Yemen since March 2015, in a bid to restore President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to power. The conflict has killed thousands and left many homeless in Yemen. Several Saudi and UAE soldiers have also been killed in clashes in the country. The UAE Armed Forces extended its condolences to the family and relatives of the soldier, official news agency WAM reported. Earlier on Saturday, the General Headquarters of the UAE Armed Forces also announced that Emirati soldier First Corporal Obaid Jowhar Obaid Al Mazrouei, was killed during a routine training mission in the country.
