NMC officially opens 75,000sqm super speciality hospital in Abu Dhabi

United Arab Emirates-based healthcare provider NMC Health announced that it has officially opened its 75,000 square metre hospital in Abu Dhabi.

NMC Royal, located in the Khalifa area, has a licensed capacity of 250 beds with the potential to expand to 500 beds.

The $200m super speciality hospital, which began providing outpatient services in September 2015, is now also open to inpatients.

In addition to emergency care and critical care, NMC Royal’s specialties include neurosciences, cardiac sciences, gastroenterology, hepatology, urology, oncology, maternal and child health. The hospital will also include a full-fledged in-vitro fertilisation clinic and capabilities for genetic disorders screening.

A new nephrology unit will provide dialysis services and kidney transplant programmes.

It will also include a fully automated laboratory track system that can process up to 25,000 samples a day.

The computerised robotic system reduces turnaround times for doctors and patients and reduces error rates and risks of cross contamination, NMC said in a statement.

NMC Royal will serve the residents of Khalifa City, Al Raha, Mohammed bin Zayed City, Masdar City, Abu Dhabi International Airport, Shahama and Yas Island suburbs, NMC said.

According to the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, these areas are expected to house around one-fifth of the emirate’s total population by 2030, the statement added.

NMC is rapidly expanding and recently acquired Spain-based fertility services provider Clinica Eugin and also bought a 51 per cent stake in the Fakih IVF Group for Dhs 696m.

The company also owns and operates home care provider Americare Group and long-term medical care group ProVita.
