The collaboration is set to modernise public transportation in the emirate by offering advanced services through the Yango smart app. Abdulla Al Marzouqi, Director General of ITC, noted the strategic importance of the initiative. “Offering taxi services through international apps like Yango enhances operational efficiency and streamlines ride bookings. “This initiative links public and private taxis, as well as licensed private vehicles, to passengers via secure, approved platforms, aligning with the emirate’s sustainability goals by improving the overall efficiency of transportation systems,” he said. Islam Abdul Karim, general manager of Yango GCC, expressed optimism about the collaboration: “Together, we bring cutting-edge technology and world-class infrastructure to enhance urban mobility for both residents and tourists.” The trial phase of the initiative saw over 300 taxis operating within Abu Dhabi, completing more than 8,000 trips in the past five months. The app now has more than 1,500 taxis registered, and users can book rides via iOS or Android devices. In addition to convenience, the service offers advanced safety features, including a secure system for tracking lost belongings in taxis.
