Hotel Indigo Jabal Akhdar Resort opens in Oman

Hotel Indigo Jabal Akhdar Resort & Spa, the first Hotel Indigo resort in the Middle East, has officially opened, offering travellers a unique mountain escape in Oman’s Al Hajar Mountains.

Located at the highest point in the region, the boutique hotel blends traditional Omani heritage with modern comforts.

“We’ve curated a collection of experiences that allow our guests to discover the heart of this region – from thrilling mountain hikes and cooking classes to stargazing under clear night skies,” said James Reeves, general manager of Hotel Indigo Jabal Akhdar. The resort, he added, aims to create lasting memories for visitors through its offerings.

Part of the IHG Hotels & Resorts family, the hotel features 173 rooms, suites, and chalets, each designed to reflect local themes such as damask roses, pomegranates, and the region’s famous indigo plants.

These design elements are incorporated throughout the five floors, with Omani-inspired decor and a focus on storytelling through its visual design.

Hotel Indigo’s focus on local culture is also evident in the resort’s setting on the Saiq Plateau, a sprawling area known for its rugged peaks, wadis, and dramatic weather shifts.

The challenging terrain offers a wealth of natural beauty, including palm oases, terraced orchards, and hidden villages.

Amenities at the hotel include the Jala Spa & Wellness, featuring indoor vitality pools, Aquamoon rainforest showers, and treatments that emphasise local traditions.

Dining options include the Vue Rooftop & Lounge, offering panoramic views of the canyon, and Zaatar, a restaurant blending international and local cuisine.

The resort is accessible via a two-hour drive from Muscat International Airport, and a scenic 6-hour drive from Dubai, with 4WD vehicles required to reach the destination.
