The UAE authorities have notified motorists of a traffic diversion on Emirates Road (E611) effective from today until Thursday, May 30.
The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI) announced on social media platform X, that the right lane of the service road near the Al Budaiya Interchange in Sharjah, will be closed for vehicles heading towards Dubai.
This closure, as per the MOEI notification, aims to facilitate necessary maintenance work and ensure road safety during this period.

To accommodate this diversion, authorities has advised motorists to adhere to the updated traffic signs, and maintain the prescribed speed limits.
The temporary diversion will last for three days, during which the two slower lanes on the main road will be closed.

Drivers are urged to follow the directional signs and respect the new speed regulations to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety.
Traffic movement to be impacted by speed limit change
In a related announcement, Sharjah’s Roads and Transport Authority reduced speed limits on two major roads, Al Ittihad and Al Wahda.
Starting May 25, the speed limit has been lowered from 100 kilometres per hour to 80 kilometres per hour, as indicated by the new signage.
Motorists are expected to comply with these changes to enhance road safety and reduce accidents.
Authorities said they appreciate the public’s cooperation and understanding during these temporary changes and advise all road users to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid any inconvenience.
