UAE weather: Safety alerts issued in Dubai, Abu Dhabi on Monday

The National Centre of Meteorology has issued weather warnings until February 13, with hail, thunder, lightning, rainfall and high winds expected throughout Monday

Residents of Dubai and Abu Dhabi received safety alerts from the authorities at 6am on Monday, February 12, alerting motorists to exercise caution while driving, as the UAE was lashed by heavy rains, accompanied by thunder and lightning in the early hours of the morning.

The notices, which were shared in Arabic and English, also called for the public to stay away from beaches and valleys.

Dubai Police and the RTA have posted safe driving tips for motorists on the social media platform, X.

The National Centre of Meteorology has issued weather warnings until noon on February 13, with hail, thunder, lightning, rainfall and high winds expected throughout Monday.

UAE weather: Authorities issue advisories

The UAE government called upon private sector companies to implement flexible working arrangements on Monday, with unstable weather conditions forecasted across the country.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai and and chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has told the emirate’s government employees to work remotely on Monday.

Schools and universities in Dubai have also been advised to provide distance learning options on Monday to ensure the safety of students, staff, and parents.
