Dubai Duty Free offers up exciting promotions to mark 40 years of operations

Dubai Duty Free, the travel retail giant, synonymous with Dubai Airports and the emirate’s shopping experience is marking 40 years of its existence this December. The celebrations kickstarted with a dramatic skydive above the city following an announcement about a range of offers and exciting prizes.

A professional skydiver from Skydive Dubai ascended to 5,500 feet above Skydive Dubai Palm Dropzone, unfurling a 3×5 metre red banner bearing DDF’s 40th Anniversary logo. The banner proclaimed ‘Celebrating 40 years of retailing service’.

“This is really an exciting way to kick off our milestone 40th anniversary celebrations and this is just the beginning,” said Colm McLoughlin, DDF executive vice chairman and CEO. “Plans are in place to make this a memorable occasion for all our customers, partners, suppliers and employees.”

Dubai Duty Free offers

In line with its 40th anniversary celebrations, the retailer announced a slew of promotional offers for travellers until December 20.

The promotions include Dubai Duty Free 40th Anniversary Shop and Win Gold, Dubai Duty Free 40th Anniversary Surprise and The Dubai Duty Free Shopping List, to win Dhs40,000 worth of DDF Gift Cards respectively.

Additionally, a 25 per cent discount on a wide range of products will be available on December 20th, the anniversary day.

The celebrations kicked off with the Shop and Win Gold promotion, which is running over four weeks from November 20 until December 17 and is open to departing and arriving passengers travelling through Dubai International and Al Maktoum International Airports as well as online through dubaidutyfree.com. Spend Dhs400 or more for a chance to win a special DDF 40th Anniversary gold bar. There are 40 winners every week and to date, 120 winners have been announced, with the last draw to take place on December 20.

Dubai Duty Free released commemorative gold and silver bars to celebrate its milestone 40th anniversary. Exclusively designed and produced for Dubai Duty Free by PAMP Swiss, the limited-edition gold and silver bars, each weighing 10 grams, feature the 40th anniversary logo with the years 1983-2023 on the front side and the Dubai Duty Free logo on the reverse side. The special Swiss-made bars are limited to only 888.

The surprises continue with the Dubai Duty Free 40th Anniversary Surprise, where for just Dhs40, one can join the promotion online to win an Dhs40,000 Dubai Duty Free Gift Card. The promotion is running from December 1 – 20, with tickets limited to only 1,000 per series.

Dubai Duty Free employees also stand a chance to win Dhs40,000 cash. With only 1000 tickets available, the staff can purchase a ticket for Dhs40.

Dubai Duty Free Shopping List radio promotion

Another exciting promotion to win Dhs40,000 Dubai Duty Free Gift Card is the Dubai Duty Free Shopping List radio promotion.

From December 5 – 20, the radio promotion is airing across four radio shows on Dubai 92 FM. Each show talks about the ‘Dubai Duty Free Shopping List’ and will put one item on the list or imaginary shopping cart every day. Listeners need to note all the items listed from each show and call the next day on the ‘Breakfast Show’ and name all four items listed in the DDF Shopping List of the previous day.

If the lucky caller can name all four listed items, they will be included in the final draw to win the grand prize. A total of nine names of shortlisted listeners will be invited to the live draw at The Irish Village on December 20th, where the sole winner of Dhs40,000 worth of Dubai Duty-Free gift cards will be announced.

Anniversary Day

On the anniversary day itself, December 20, Dubai Duty Free will run a pre-Christmas treat of 25 per cent discount on a wide range of products which includes the tickets for its world famous Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise promotions. The 25 per cent discount applies to major categories including perfumes, cosmetics, liquor, watches, jewellery, confectionary, and leather goods, with the exception of certain categories such as gold, electronics, and select fashion brands and is open both in-stone and online.
