The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in Oman has officially declared that Eid Al Adha will commence on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. The sighting of the crescent of the month of Dhu Al Hijjah for the year 1444 AH has been confirmed, Oman News Agency said on Twitter.

The sighting of the crescent means that the annual Hajj pilgrimage will begin on June 26 and Arafat Day in Oman will fall on Tuesday, June 27.

The announcement was made after the crescent moon was sighted on Sunday, June 18. The crescent moon signals the start of Islamic month Dhul Hijjah, therefore the last month in the Islamic Hijri calendar begins on Monday, June 19.
