UAE weather: Temperatures to hit 50°C this week

However, residents in Dubai can expect a slight respite on Friday, with a relatively cooler day at 37°C

Temperatures in the UAE are expected to soar towards the 50°C mark this week.

The National Centre of Meteorology has issued a forecast predicting a significant rise in temperatures across the Emirates, accompanied by dust storms.

The latest five-day bulletin from the weather bureau indicates that Abu Dhabi and Dubai will witness temperatures in the early 40s for most of the week.

However, residents in Dubai can expect a slight respite on Friday, with a relatively cooler day at 37°C.

Despite this temporary relief, the overall UAE weather conditions are expected to remain sweltering and challenging.

With such extreme heat, it is crucial for residents and visitors to take necessary precautions.

Staying hydrated, seeking shade and avoiding outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day are essential measures to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced a halt on working in open spaces and under direct sunlight from 12:30pm to 3:00pm every day starting June 15.

The midday break for outdoor workers will stay in place for a period of three months until September 15, 2023.

MoHRE said the midday break is in line with Ministerial Resolution No. (44) of 2022 on Occupational Health and Safety and Labour Accommodation, which aims to provide an adequate work environment that protects workers from occupational hazards and prevents work-related injuries or illnesses.
