Huawei Consumer Business Group held the flagship product launch Event in Dubai, showcasing a new line-up of devices which include Huawei P60 Pro, Huawei Mate X3 and a new tablet Huawei MatePad Pro 11-inches 2023, as well as new laptops in Huawei MateBook X Pro and Huawei MateBook D 14.

Huawei P60 Pro

The P60 Pro features Ultra Lighting XMAGE Camera system, with the 48-megapixel Ultra Lighting Telephoto Camera. Users can zoom in on far-away objects in low light and take well-lit pictures with vivid colours and excellent details.

Moreover, its Ultra Lighting Main Camera, with the largest F1.4 physical aperture in the industry, can let in a surprising amount of light to create shots in low-lighting situations.

Combined with the brand’s XD Fusion Texture Engine, this high level of light input allows the camera to capture exceptional detail across various lighting conditions.

The phone also features the Kunlun Glass, designed to withstand the rigours of daily use. This glass has undergone a high-temperature nanocrystal growth process, giving it ten times better drop resistance. The Kunlun Glass, along with the IP68 water resistance, ensures the longevity of the phone, making it as durable as it is stylish.

The smartphone will be available in two premium finishes – Rococo Pearl and Black at a starting price of Dhs3,999 with pre-order in the UAE starting on May 10 including gifts worth of Dhs1,530.

Huawei Mate X3

The Mate X3 is a big-screen foldable smartphone that sets a new standard for slim and lightweight design among foldables. It is the world’s thinnest and lightest foldable smartphone, with a thickness of just 11.08mm while folded and 5.3mm while unfolded.

The phone is also incredibly lightweight, weighing just 239g.

It achieves breakthrough weight reduction through the industry’s unique ultra-light and strong aluminium and ultra-light carbon fibre.

Besides, the rounded, quad-curve body offers a smooth grip. The phone also makes some big breakthroughs in durability with its Kunlun Glass exterior screen and impact-resistant foldable interior screen. This innovative glass technology provides the device with enhanced durability and protection.

With the Ultra Vision XMAGE Camera, the Mate X3 also offers solid photography capabilities. Equipped with a 50 MP Ultra Vision Main Camera, a 13 MP Ultra-Wide Angle Camera, and a 12 MP Periscope Telephoto Camera that supports 5x optical zoom, the Mate X3 captures images with rich details and vibrant colours in all lighting conditions.

The device will be available in green vegan leather and black feather sand glass editions at a price Dhs7,299 with pre-order starting on May 10 with gifts worth Dhs2,430.

Gulf Business also had an opportunity to discuss with Peak Yin, country manager UAE at Huawei Consumer Business Group.

When asked how has the decline in the global smartphone shipments in Q1 2023 impacted Huawei’s sales and market share, Yin said: “From 2022 Q1 to 2023 Q1 – the sales of our flagship smartphones and wearables above $300 have been welcomed by users in the region and increased by 50 per cent.
For the rest of 2023 and 2024, Huawei plans to continue its efforts to bring digital to every person for a fully connected world.

The launch phase of our flagship handsets has returned as it used to be. In the first half of 2023, we just launched our new P60 Pro. In the second half of this year, we will launch the next Mate series. So it is almost back to our original track.

We are grateful for the support of our loyal customers and media partners, who have made these achievements possible. Despite the challenges in the past three years, we continue to firmly ensure our investment in R&D and innovation.

Meanwhile Yin also explained the strategies that the brand has employed to address the decline in demand for smartphones. He added: “We have showcased a promising return with our back-to-back launches of flagship lineups such as Huawei Mate 50 Pro last year, and Huawei P60 Pro and Huawei Mate X3.

Mate 50 series has been popular in China, Middle East and Africa, and other overseas markets since its launch. This gives us great confidence. This year, the sales of Huawei P60 series and Mate X3 in China also far exceeded expectations.

As one of the first brands to enter the industry, Huawei’s foldable phone has three folding forms: outwards, inwards and vertical. We own the most mature folding technology and the most forms in the industry. Huawei’s market share of foldable phones in China has exceeded 50 per cent. One out of every two foldable phones come from Huawei.

The P60 Pro has the industry’s largest light input periscope telephoto camera, so you can capture the super moon scene and see the unseen. In the P60 Pro Rococo Pearl, we used environmentally friendly materials to reproduce the never-repeatable texture for the first time.

Huawei Mate X3 is the world’s thinnest large-screen foldable phone. For the first time, the large-screen foldable phone is made lighter and thinner than a standard phone. At the same time, the Mate X3 is also reliable. It is the first time that non-Newtonian fluid materials have been used on mobile screens. It improved the impact resistance of the inner screen by four times. The outer screen uses Kunlun glass as well, making both internal and external screens reliable.

In addition to mobile phones, we have also made continuous efforts on +8 products. We released Huawei Watch Ultimate, Freebuds 5, MateBook D 14, MateBook X Pro and MatePad 11, extending the seamless experience to all-scenario products, and bringing more choices to consumers.

With all these flagship devices available locally, we are keen to providing continuously the industrial-leading and intelligent user experience to our customers”
