Michelin Star chef Vikas Khanna launches NFT of his book in Dubai

Michelin Star awardee chef Vikas Khanna is collaborating with Akshaya.io, an NFT metaverse marketplace to release his new book, ‘Sacred Foods of India’. This was unveiled by him at his restaurant Kinara in Dubai.

Akshaya.io will create Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) of the book which will enable those interested to own the original NFT along with physical book. This purchase will authenticate the originality of this book and ownership of the asset cannot be duplicated in any form.

Though a first-ever collaboration, the celebrity chef and author intends to create more augmented reality and virtual reality assets of his works and creations. “In these fast-changing times when the world of the internet is metamorphosing into the future rapidly, it is important we take the big leap forward. ‘Sacred Foods of India’ is very dear to my heart, and I wish this will be a prized possession for those who are interested in buying or investing into works of passion,” he said.

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) were first invented in 2014, but they have recently gained recognition as an increasingly popular means to buy and sell digital art. It is a non-interchangeable unit of data stored on a blockchain that can be sold or traded.

NFT books are rising in popularity and authors are seeing a good potential. Last year, Dubai based author Prem Ramachandran, also unveiled his plans to the world by listing the world’s first-ever, yet to be published, NFT fiction book cover on OpenSea, one of the world’s first and largest NFT platform.

Vikas Khanna is an internationally acclaimed Michelin star Indian American chef. Recently, the inaugural Michelin Guide Dubai 2022 was revealed, regarding which Vikas said, “Michelin is the only guide which is reputed worldwide and to have that guide come to Dubai is truly deserving. Dubai is a city which stands between the East and the West. I feel that it not only adds to the crown of the chefs and the restaurants but it also elevates the food tourism in the city.”
