UAE, Germany non-oil trade totals Dhs478bn in 10 years

The UAE-Germany non-oil trade exchange exceeded Dhs478bn from 2012 through 2021, weighing more than 14 million tonnes.

The imports accounted for 89.5 per cent of the total trade exchange, with exports comprising 3.5 per cent, and re-exports making up 7 per cent, data from the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre (FCSC) revealed.

Trade exchanges between the two countries were distributed between Dhs427.4bn of imports, or 12.7 million tonnes, Dhs17.1bn of exports, or 961,700 tonnes, and Dhs33.4bn of re-exports, weighing 353,000 tonnes, official news agency WAM reported.

Cars ranked first on the list of the most important goods imported from Germany during 2021 at a value of about Dhs4.3bn; followed by air vehicles at Dhs3bn; medicines at Dhs1.9bn; automotive parts at Dhs1bn; and finally antiserums and immune products worth Dhs0.8bn.

The top five commodities exported to Germany during 2021 included insulated wires and cables at about Dhs363m; cigarettes worth Dhs166m; electricity savers at Dhs134m; jewellery at Dhs76m; and raw aluminum at Dhs75m.

The top five goods re-exported to Germany included telephones at Dhs494m; turbo-jets and turbo propellers at Dhs485m; cars at Dhs391m; aircraft parts at Dhs371m; and jewellery at Dhs196m.
