Home Covid-19 Israel to end Covid travel restrictions to several countries including UAE, UK and US The travel ban was put in place in December as an effort to prevent people infected with coronavirus from entering the country by Bloomberg January 7, 2022 Israel’s Health Ministry has recommended ending travel restrictions to and from the US, the UK and the six other countries which include the UAE, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Mexico, Switzerland and Turkey. The new rules are in effect from midnight on Thursday, subject to the expected approval of the cabinet and the Knesset Law Committee. The travel ban was put in place in December as an effort to prevent people infected with the coronavirus from entering the country. The change was recommended because community transmission now accounts for more than 95 per cent of the newly infected as Israel’s daily caseload soars. Menawhile, in the UAE, Abu Dhabi has updated its green list of countries for inbound travel to the emirate from where passengers can travel directly to the emirate without having to quarantine on arrival. Effective 12.01am on Monday, January 3, that list now includes 71 countries, down from 73 countries. The UK, Turkey, Jordan, Qatar, Russia and Lebanon are among the countries which have been removed from the green list published by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi). Countries including Algeria, Morocco, Seychelles and Tunisia have been added to it. The UAE has also announced a travel ban from January 10 for UAE citizens who are not vaccinated against Covid-19. In order to travel, vaccinated citizens are required to obtain booster dose according to the national protocol for booster doses. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), in coordination with the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA). Travel is permitted for unvaccinated citizens who are medically exempted from taking the vaccine, humanitarian cases, and also for individuals travelling for medical and treatment purposes.
