Home Brand View MICE industry’s future growth in the spotlight at Abu Dhabi Business Events Week The inaugural trade event will provide a platform for industry leaders, companies and professionals in the MICE sector to exchange knowledge, discuss innovations and further collaboration to bolster the future of MICE travel in the region by Gulf Business October 25, 2021 Abu Dhabi’s tourism authority, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), continually aims to guide the emirate’s travel and tourism industry through whatever challenges it faces. This is in line with the government’s focus on diversifying its economy and increasing the contribution of non-oil sectors to the GDP, as part of Abu Dhabi’s Economic Vision 2030. With customer confidence bringing a rise in inbound and outbound travel in leisure and business segments, DCT Abu Dhabi has reinforced its commitment to further develop the emirate’s MICE sector, helping Abu Dhabi emerge as a leading destination for events and MICE activities. An important initiative that supports this vision is the launch of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Business Events Week (ADBEW). The MICE-focussed event is being organised by the Abu Dhabi Convention & Exhibition Bureau (ADCEB), part of DCT Abu Dhabi, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from October 25 to 27. It will bring together local and regional professional conference and exhibition organisers, destination management companies, travel trade partners, venue owners/operators, hotels and event management agencies and suppliers. For the event, ADCEB has formed partnerships with global MICE associations such as International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) and Meeting Professionals International (MPI). Over three days of panel discussions, keynote speakers and workshop sessions, MICE industry professionals will be able to share best practices, upskill their capabilities and tap into the potential of the region’s MICE sector. “We are very optimistic about the impact Abu Dhabi Business Events Week will have on the future of our industry,” said Mubarak Al Shamisi, director of ADCEB. “Our overall aim is to accelerate growth in the sector and to help identify new strategic priorities to future proof and sustainably reshape the industry. Throughout the event, we want to start conversations, share ideas and opinions, and be an open, engaging platform for those in the industry to gather and advance together, stronger.” As well as guiding the sector in the MENA region, ADBEW will also provide opportunities to collaborate and expand memberships, facilitate professional education and encourage business exchange. It will also promote Abu Dhabi as a global MICE destination, highlighting its accessibility to much of the world’s population, its tourist attractions, state-of-the-art infrastructure and the famed Emirati hospitality. ADCEB is now aiming for ADBEW to become an annual event in the MICE calendar to ensure its continued support for the region’s business events sector. For more information, click here.
