UAE telco Etisalat’s mobile subscribers do not require data plans to access Al Hosn app

UAE telecom operator Etisalat has said that all its postpaid and prepaid customers would be able to access their Al Hosn app in public places without activating or purchasing a data plan.

A statement issued by Etisalat on Monday added that the Al Hosn app is now whitelisted, so any data consumed while using it will not come off a mobile subscribers’ allowance.

The Al Hosn app shows the current infection and vaccinations status of an individual, and has three display colours – green, grey and red.

“We are pleased to offer zero rated access to Al Hosn app. This is a testament to Etisalat’s commitment to enhance customer experience while supporting the government’s efforts in using the latest mobile technologies to help contain the Covid-19 virus and maintain the health and safety of all citizens, residents and visitors in the country,” said Khaled Elkhouly, chief consumer officer at Etisalat.

In Abu Dhabi, the green pass on the Al Hosn app for all tourists and residents in Abu Dhabi to enter most public places. In the emirate, the public places where entry will be restricted to those with the green pass include shopping centres, restaurants, cafes, and all other retail outlets, including those not within a shopping centre, as well as gyms, recreational facilities and sporting activities, health clubs, resorts, museums, cultural centres and theme parks. The list also includes universities, institutes, public and private schools and children’s nurseries in the emirate.

The green pass is displayed when an individual receives a negative PCR test. It will turn from green to grey once the relevant PCR test validity ends. The status will turn red should the test result be positive.

Meanwhile the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company also said on Monday that the decision pertaining to the requirement of the Al Hosn Green pass to access its facilities has been put on hold until further notice.
