Officials in Abu Dhabi have updated the rules for entry into the emirate from within the UAE for vaccinated tourists, residents and citizens.

Effective Friday, August 20, those vaccinated and participants in a clinical trial can enter Abu Dhabi if they have green pass and an active E or star icon on Alhosn app. A PCR test is required to show the E-star icon, which remains active for 7 days.

The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee which issued the directive added that no further testing is required after entering Abu Dhabi for those vaccinated and participants in a clinical trial with green pass and an active E or star icon on Alhosn if they remain in the emirate.

For those who are unvaccinated and wish to enter the Abu Dhabi from any other emirate within the UAE, they require to present a negative PCR test result received within the previous 48 hours and a negative DPI result received within 24 hours.

Unvaccinated individuals who have taken a PCR test to gain entry to Abu Dhabi must repeat a PCR test on day four and day eight of their stay in the emirate. Meanwhile, those who have entered on the merit of a DPI test must take a PCR test on day three and seven of their stay in Abu Dhabi. A DPI test cannot be used to enter Abu Dhabi consecutive times.

Abu Dhabi has also updated its green list to include a total of 33 destinations.

Starting August 22, the countries which have been added to the existing list include Armenia, Austria, Jordan, Kuwait and Netherlands.

The protocol applies to fully vaccinated UAE citizens and residents as well as visitors who have documented their inoculation on the Alhosn app.
