Home Covid-19 UAE introduces ‘green pass’ on Alhosn app to show vaccination and infection status The Alhosn status will turn from green to grey once the PCR test validity ends, and to red if a test result is positive by Varun Godinho June 8, 2021 The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) on Monday approved a new protocol called the ‘green pass’ on the Alhosn app that will be used to show people’s vaccination status and Covid-19 PCR test. According to the Alhosn colour-coding system, there are six categories, including fully vaccinated, second dose recipients, first dose recipients waiting for second dose, those who are late to their second dose appointment, those exempt from receiving the vaccine and the non-vaccinated, reported state-run news agency WAM. Category 1 covers those vaccinated who have received their second dose at least 28 days earlier or are volunteers in vaccine trials. For these individuals, a negative PCR test result will appear on Alhosn app in green for 30 days as well as show the active icon (letter E or Gold Star) for seven days. Category 2 covers those who have received their second dose less than 28 days earlier, For these individuals, a a negative PCR test result will appear on Alhosn app in green for 14 days. For them, a negative PCR test result will appear on Alhosn app in green for seven days. Category 4 covers those who have received their first dose and are late to their second dose appointment by 42 days or more. For these individuals, a negative PCR test result will appear on Alhosn app in green for three days. Category 5 covers those with vaccine exemption certificates as per approved processes; for them a negative PCR test result will appear on Alhosn app in green for seven days. Category 6 covers those unvaccinated and eligible for vaccination. For them, a negative PCR test result will appear on Alhosn app in green for three days. For all categories, the Alhosn status will turn from green to grey once the relevant PCR test validity ends. The status will turn red should the test result be positive, whereupon they must follow the procedures approved by local authorities in the case of positive infections. MoHAP said that the new initiative is meant to enhance safe movement and tourism in the country, preserve public health and speed up efforts to ensure a sustainable recovery. Currently, children age 12 and over can receive a Covid-19 vaccine for free in the country. Health authorities in the country have confirmed that there are vaccine exemptions for those who have an active Covid-19 infection, volunteers in Covid-19 vaccine clinical trials, pregnant women, people vaccinated outside of the country, individuals who have previously contracted Covid-19 (following a medical assessment), those who have severe allergies to vaccines or vaccine ingredients, and people with diseases proven to interact negatively with the vaccine.
