Participation fee waived for publishers at Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2021

Pavilion fees for all publishers at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair will be waived this year, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) confirmed on Saturday.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, the 30th edition of the fair will take place from May 23-29 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

Over 800 exhibitors from 46 countries are expected to attend the event, which will include a mix of in-person and virtual sessions, and the participation waiver will apply to those attending physically and digitally.

“By waiving the fair’s participation fees for publishers, we are proactively offering key resources needed for them to continue their crucial work, underscoring DCT Abu Dhabi’s commitment to supporting local enterprises and reflecting the value of generosity our wise leadership has instilled in us as a nation and society,” said Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi

The organisers have announced strict Covid-19 precautionary measures that will be observed during the event.

Attendees must be fully vaccinated and aged 17 and above to enter the exhibition. All participants, visitors and exhibitors must present a negative PCR test received within 48 hours, and download the Al Hosn app.

Visitors may attend the exhibition for three hours, and must wear face masks and maintain physical distancing at all times.

A free testing centre will be available for participants from outside the country with a maximum of four tests during the exhibition for one delegate from the exhibiting company.

The capacity of each pavilion must be calculated on the basis of one person per four square metres and exhibitors must place clear signs specifying the number of visitors allowed to be inside the pavilion at the same time, while the number of attendees at any meeting should not exceed four people.

Exhibitors are not permitted to use touchscreens in their pavilions, and gifts and brochures must not allowed to be distributed or placed in the exhibition unless they have been hygienically, safely and individually pre-packaged.

While announcing a partnership Frankfurt International Book Fair last month, Dr. Ali bin Tamim, president of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, added that Germany will be this year’s Guest of Honour.
