Dubai’s Emirates to resume passenger services to additional cities

Dubai carrier Emirates has said that it will resume flights to the Ghanaian capital Accra as well as to Abidjan, the capital city of the Ivory Coast, from September 6.

The flights to Accra and Abidjan will be linked services, operated thrice a week.

It will be serviced by a Boeing 777-300ER and tickets for the flights can be booked on the carrier’s website or via travel agents too.

The resuming of flights to these cities will result in the total number of destinations covered by the Emirates network in Africa to rise to 11.

Globally, it would have resumed flights to 81 destinations in September, offering customers flights to Dubai and even the opportunity to transit through Dubai.

Emirates has reiterated that Covid-19 PCR tests are mandatory for all inbound and transit passengers arriving to Dubai (and the UAE), including UAE citizens, residents and tourists, irrespective of the departing country.

The airline has added several incentives to encourage travel – Customers who purchase an Emirates ticket by September 30, 2020, for travel on or before November 30, 2020, are eligible for special rebooking terms and options if their travel plans are altered as a result of unforeseen flight or travel disruptions due to Covid-19.

Emirates announced that it would offer Covid-19 related cover to passengers, allowing customers to claim medical expenses of up to EUR150,000 and quarantine costs of EUR100 per day for 14 days, regardless of the class of travel or destination on flights undertaken until October 31.

This week, Dubai-based carriers Emirates and flydubai revived their partnership to offer customers of both airlines greater travel flexibility and better connectivity.

Emirates customers can travel on codeshare flights to over 30 destinations on flydubai, while flydubai customers have over 70 destinations they can travel to on Emirates.

Like Emirates, flydubai too has announced that it would covers passengers’ health expenses and quarantine costs, if they are diagnosed with Covid-19 during their trip. The service enables passengers to benefit from coverage for their medical expenses up to EUR150,000 and quarantine costs up to EUR100 per day for 14 days.
