A firefighter in Dubai, Sgt Adel Nasser Saleh, died on Tuesday while battling a blaze that broke out in two warehouses in Dubai Investment Park.

The fire, which began close to 4pm, spread rapidly across one of the warehouses, causing it to collapse.

Teams from several fire stations reached the site, and the blaze was brought under control by about 5.30pm, Dubai Civil Defence officials told local media.

Another firefighter was also injured in the incident, according to reports.

Taking to Twitter, Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum paid tribute to Saleh.

“Precious civil defence men are exerting efforts to protect lives and the security and safety of our country,” he said.

“Today, Dubai lost Sgt Adel Nasser Saleh, who was martyred during his call to duty. We ask God for mercy and his family and his patience and solace.”
