Home UAE Abu Dhabi Abu Dhabi extends movement ban for another week from June 9 The travel ban had initially been instituted for a period of one week starting from June 2 by Varun Godinho June 9, 2020 Abu Dhabi will extend its ongoing movement ban for another week starting June 9, officials confirmed late on Monday night. The decision was announced by the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Committee for the COVID-19 Pandemic, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Police and Department of Health (DoH), via the Abu Dhabi Media Office twitter account. “The ban covers movements between Abu Dhabi’s regions (Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafrah) as well as in and out of the emirate. It applies to all Abu Dhabi residents, including UAE Nationals,” tweeted the Media Office. The programme timing are currently from 10pm-6am daily. “This step aims to enhance the effectiveness of the expanded National Screening Programme, among a series of precautionary and preventative measures being taken to reduce contact, curb the spread of Covid-19, and protect the health and safety of all community members.” It added that exemptions are available by special permit for employees in vital sectors, chronic disease patients visiting hospitals and for those involved in the transportation of necessary goods. Those seeking movement permits can apply for it via the ‘movement permits system’ on the Abu Dhabi Police website.
