The spokesperson added that a total of 16,088 patients are currently being treated for the virus. “People who are most susceptible to the infection have to take extra care of themselves, namely those suffering from diabetics, hypertension and asthma as well as other respiratory and heart diseases. They have to completely abide by all precautionary measures, including physical distancing norms; not go out; avoid gatherings; eat healthy food; and practice sport” said Dr Amna, reported official news agency WAM. Al Hosani: With business activities resumed, we might see an increase in cases if the public doesn’t act responsibly and continue to abide by measures in place. It is the responsibility of every one, citizens and residents, to cooperate and show their full commitment. #UAEGov. — UAEGov (@uaegov) May 30, 2020 Dr Amna even addressed the subject of whether the relaxation in restrictions and the decision to resume economic activity would lead to an increase in cases and if the number of cases were on the decline. She said: “It is possible the number of infections may increase; it all hinges on how people abide by the precautionary measures. We cannot affirm that the virus is subsiding. However, we all share in the collective responsibility to act and reach the recovery phase; the more we comply with the precautionary measures, the better we are able to control the virus spread.” Al Hosani: It is too early and we cannot say that the spread of Covid-19 has been curbed. It all depends on our commitment to precautionary measures put in place and abiding to health instructions and practices particularly social distancing. #UAEGov. — UAEGov (@uaegov) May 30, 2020 Dr Amna also denied social media rumors that Covid-19 is caused by bacteria rather than a virus. “All official studies have affirmed that the disease is caused by the SARS CoV virus. However, it is possible that the COVID-19 patients could be prone to other bacteria infections resulting from the corona complications.” She noted that aspirin was not used to treat Covid-19, adding that more efficient medications are being used instead.
