GCC Covid-19 update: UAE reports 781 cases; Kuwait registers 9 fatalities; Saudi cases cross 39,000

The death toll in the UAE has risen to 198

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention has announced 781 new Covid-19 cases, resulting from 29,000 tests conducted across the country to screen for the virus.

The ministry also confirmed the death of 13 individuals of different nationalities who were active Covid-19 patients and died due to complications. The death toll in the country now stands at 198.

The total number of Covid-19 infections in the country has now risen to 18,198.

With 509 additional recoveries, as many as 4,804 people have so far recovered across the country.

Saudi Arabia
The Ministry of Health took to Twitter to announce 1,912 new Covid-19 infections and seven deaths.

The total number of cases in the kingdom now tallies 39,038 while the Covid-19-related death toll has now risen to 246.

 

Kuwait
The Ministry of Health in Kuwait has registered 1,065 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, spiking the total to 8,688, Kuwait News Agency reported.

The ministry also confirmed nine deaths, raising the death toll to 58.

A total of 114 people are in the intensive care unit, of whom 45 are in a critical condition.

Oman
The Ministry of Health in the sultanate recorded 175 new cases of virus, spiking the number of infections to 3,399.

Of the newly diagnosed cases, 52 were Omanis, while the rest were expatriates.

The number of Covid-19 induced fatalities now stands at 17. Meanwhile, as many as 1,117 cases have recovered.

Bahrain
As of May 9, 10pm local time, Bahrain had a total of 2,711 active Covid-19 cases, of whom two are said to be in a critical condition.

Qatar
The Ministry of Public Health announced 1,189 new Covid-19 cases and 254 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 2,753.

The ministry also announced one new death from the virus, spiking the death toll to 14.
