Home Covid-19 Dubai extends closure of hotels, restaurants, events, until further notice A disinfection programme is underway in the emirate and was expected to end on April 18 by Varun Godinho April 16, 2020 The government of Dubai has decided to extend the closure of several commercial and tourism-related establishments indefinitely in the emirate as an ongoing precautionary measure to stem the spread of the Covid-19 virus. In a circular issued on April 14 by the Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing , it instructed “all inbound tour operators, hotel establishments, floating restaurants, venues and event organisers in Dubai” that “in line with the Dubai Government precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of its residents and visitors, we extend all precautionary circulars on the website until further notice.” It added that Dubai Tourism would continue to evaluate the situation in coordination with the health authorities. On March 15, Dubai closed all theme parks, cinemas, gyms, spas and cancelled all events. Read: UAE urges all residents to stay home as it closes malls, makes restaurants delivery-only On April 4, Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management extended the sterilisation programme within the emirate to 24 hours a day, for a period of two weeks effective of April 4. On Wednesday, the UAE reported 432 additional Covid-19 cases, taking the total number of infections in the country to 5,365. Also, 101 new recoveries were reported thereby taking the overall number of recoveries in the country up to 1,034. 0 Comments
