Covid-19: Saudi announces five additional deaths; total cases tally 2,385

A total of 34 patients have succumbed to the disease

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health took to Twitter to announce five additional deaths, taking the total number of Covid-19 fatalities in the kingdom to 34.

As many as 206 new cases were diagnosed in the kingdom.

Since the outbreak in December last year, the new strain of the coronavirus has infected a total of 2,385 people in the country, including 488 who are said to have fully recovered.

On Saturday, Saudi Arabia announced a 24-hour curfew on seven neighbourhoods in Jeddah to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

Prior to that, the kingdom had enforced a 24-hour curfew in Makkah and Madinah, which will remain in effect until further notice.

On March 29, Saudi Arabia said that it had decided to extend the ongoing suspension of all international passengers flights to the kingdom – excluding exceptional cases – until further notice.
