Motorists can renew car registrations in UAE without testing vehicles, paying fines

The directive comes into effect on Sunday, March 22, for the next three months

Motorists in the UAE can renew their vehicles’ registration cards without having to visit any service delivery centre, the UAE Ministry of Interior has announced.

The decision is in line with a series of preventive measures taken to protect the community from the Covid-19 coronavirus.

The directive comes into effect from Sunday, March 22, until the next three months.

“In line with the need to take precautionary and preventive measures to ensure the safety of all customers, expired vehicles’ registration cards may be fully renewed without the need to visit the service delivery centres for the next three months, as of Sunday, March 22,” it said.

 

 

Motorists can avail the benefit without having to pay traffic fines, or perform vehicle inspection or risk confiscation.

The UAE has announced a series of measures to combat the Covid-19 infection and to curb its spread. The country has reported a total of 153 cases since the outbreak which has claimed more than 12,000 lives worldwide.
