Oman levies service fee on healthcare professionals
Non-Omanis will pay OMR100 to renew their licences to practice medicine and dentistry
Oman’s ministry of health has levied a fee on practitioners working in the healthcare sector, Times of Oman reported.
The services include the renewal of licences to practice medicine and dentistry, that will cost non-Omanis and Omanis a total of OMR100 and OMR50 respectively, a statement said.
The fee for the licence renewal to practice medical auxiliary professions is OMR50 for expats and OMR30 for Omanis. Additionally, the fee to renew the licence of a government sector practitioner to be able to work in private health institutions part-time will cost OMR100.
The new law also stipulates charges for other services offered by the ministry.
A fee of OMR200 will be charged for issuing or renewing a licence of a glasses shop in the Muscat governorate, the statement said.
A private hospital in the Muscat governorate will have to pay OMR3000 to renew its licence. The renewal fee for a private clinic has been fixed at OMR500, the report states.
Earlier this month, Oman banned work visas for expats in the construction and cleaning work sectors.
