UAE flights to Lebanon unaffected amid security concerns

Warning by the UAE government advising against travelling to Lebanon remains in effect

As tensions between Hezbollah and Israel increase, flights from the UAE to Lebanon appear to be mostly unaffected so far.

Flights from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah were taking off for and arriving from Lebanon’s capital of Beirut on time on Monday, according to the website of Beirut’s airport, Rafic Hariri International Airport.

At the same time, a warning by the UAE government advising citizens against travelling to Lebanon for safety reasons remains in effect.

Hezbollah and Israel have been in an increasingly tense war of words in the past few days. Over the weekend, the two sides fired on each other’s positions for the first time in years.

Hezbollah also says southern Beirut was attacked last week by two Israeli drones. The organisation said the attack was unprovoked. Israel has denied attacking Lebanon.

Southern Beirut, where Beirut’s airport is located, is an area of strong Hezbollah support.

The tensions have prompted other Gulf nations to already take action. Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry on Sunday told its citizens leave Lebanon immediately, citing “security events and developments.”

Previously, the Bahraini government had warned its citizens not to travel to Lebanon.
