As CEO of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, Al Hammadi has been tasked with providing the UAE with a new source of energy, and he is tantalisingly close to doing so, with the $24.4bn Barakah nuclear energy plant in Abu Dhabi now more than 91 per cent complete. The plant is the world’s largest nuclear project under construction, and when it starts operations in 2020 it will have total capacity of 5,600 MW of electricity.
