Last year the UAE Cabinet approved a federal space law, followed by the director general signing an agreement with NASA to train UAE astronauts. In March last year the agency also signed a letter of intent with Russia and Kazakhstan to cooperate and collaborate on space projects, and in October the UAE made history by launching the first satellite made entirely in the country. To top it all off, Al Ahbabi was named on a list of the world’s 15 most influential figures in the space sector, alongside the likes of Buzz Aldrin, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson.
