Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the UAE’s Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai visited Mada’in Saleh, a historic site in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

He was joined by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed on the tour.

Located in the historic Al-Ula governorate, Mada’in Saleh features archaeological rocks carved by the Nabataean civilisation, and was named the kingdom’s first UNESCO World Heritage site in 2008.

The site includes over 100 decorated tombs and thousands of non-monumental graves with inscriptions and cave drawings.

Sheikh Mohammed’s visit to the site came after he attended the Endurance Cup in Al Ula, where Emirati riders emerged as the winners.

Riding Blakeridge Indigo, UAE’s Salem Mohammed Al Ketbi from M7 Endurance Stables came first, with Abdullah Ghanem Al Marri from F3 Stables in second place and Saif Ahmed Al Mazrouei from MRM Stables bagging the third place.

More than 200 riders from 12 countries (Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, France, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Spain, Sudan, UAE, Uruguay) participated in the race.

The endurance event was held as part of ‘Winter At Tantora’ festival, the cultural and touristic festival held in the city of Al-Ula.
