Sharjah’s Air Arabia begins flights to Prague

Air Arabia will compete with UAE carriers including Emirates and Flydubai on the route

Low cost carrier Air Arabia has launched direct flights to Czech Republic capital Prague from its Sharjah home base.

The debut flight left Sharjah International airport yesterday at 7:35am and landed at Prague Václav Havel Airport at 11:20am local time.

The route will operate five times a week every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Flights will take around six hours and 50 minutes.

On Tuesdays and Sundays, departing flights leaves Sharjah at 7:35am and arrive in Prague at 11:20pm local time. The return flight departs Prague at 12:00am and arrives in Sharjah the following morning at 9:00am.

On Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the departing flight leaves Sharjah at 3:35pm and arrives in Prague at 7:20pm local time. The return flight departs Prague at 9:05pm and arrives in Sharjah the following morning at 6:05am.

The launch will place Air Arabia in competition with local rivals Emirates and Flydubai, which also operate services to Prague from Dubai International Airport.

Emirates began a second daily flight to the city in July.

Air Arabia currently operates more than 150 routes around the world from its four hubs located in the MENA region.

The carrier reported a 20 per cent drop in Q3 net profit last month, blamed on higher fuel prices.
