Home GCC Bahrain Bahrain investigating ‘threat’ message to municipal candidate Bahrain is set to hold municipal elections on November 24 by Staff writer October 18, 2018 Bahrain is currently investigating a complaint from a would-be municipal candidate who claimed that he received a message sent that threatened him to back off from his candidacy decision, the official Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported. The message was sent from a withheld number, BNA quoted Muhanna Al Shayji, the chief prosecutor and head of the public prosecution-formed election crime investigation committee as saying. The committee “immediately started its probe” based on the complainant’s statement. “Investigations are underway to find out the truth and determine the source of that message and its sender,” the report added. It did not specify the name of the candidate. Bahrain is set to hold municipal elections on November 24 – the fifth elections to be held since the country reactivated democracy. 0 Comments
