The Dubai Fitness Challenge, launched by Crown Prince Sheikh Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum last year, will return next month with plans to increase public engagement.

The inaugural 2017 event saw 786,000 citizens and residents commit to 30 consecutive minute of daily physical activity for 30 days, according to Dubai Media Office.

This year, the organisers want more than one million people to take part and experience a range of fitness activities, villages and carnivals as well as free facilities and sports.

The 2018 event will run from October 19 to November 17 and include activities ranging from walks to team sports, intense fitness regimes, paddle-boarding, group fitness classes, football, yoga and cycling.

“DFC 2018 will also give participants the opportunity to experiment with new and exciting ways to improve their fitness levels and experience the wide range of sports and exercise programmes available across the city that they may not have tried before,” according to a statement from the organisers.

Further details will be available on www.dubaifitnesschallenge.com and a dedicated app has been developed for registration.
