His company’s long-awaited deal with Amazon finally happened, with the American giant paying a reported $580m – $750m to buy Souq. Mouchawar has stayed on as CEO and is leading Amazon’s e-commerce business in the Middle East – expanding his already sizable command over the region’s online retail industry. The company’s sales are also growing – most notably during its annual White Friday sale, that last year saw twice as many items sold than 2016.
