UAE government workers get four-day weekend for New Year
A shorter break is expected for private sector workers
UAE government workers at federal ministries and related entities will receive a four-day weekend to mark New Year 2018.
The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources confirmed the news in a circular issued on Tuesday, according to state news agency WAM.
The affected workers will have Sunday, December 31, and Monday, January 1, off for the holiday, meaning a four-day weekend including the previous Friday and Saturday.
Work will resume on Tuesday, January 2
No dates have been announced for private sector workers but January 1 is generally considered a national holiday.
