Home Industry Energy $465m gas power plant begins operations in Oman The greenfield Salalah 2 Independent Power Plant has an aggregate capacity of 445MW by Staff Writer March 8, 2018 A consortium of Japan’s Mitsui, Saudi’s Acwa Power and Oman’s Dhofar International Development and Investment Holding Company has inaugurated a new $465m gas power plant in Oman. The greenfield Salalah 2 Independent Power Plant has an aggregate capacity of 445MW and will add to an existing 273MW plant in Raysut. It features four gas turbines with four heat recovery steam generators and has a lifecycle of 30 years. Acwa power said the project was completed ahead of schedule. “We are pleased to have achieved commercial operations ahead of schedule and to begin to supply much needed additional power to the region,” said president and CEO Paddy Padmanathan. “Power demand in Oman is rapidly increasing and we look forward to continuing our work with OPWP and our partners to reliably and cost effectively deliver power in Oman.” 0 Comments
