A $100m petroleum storage terminal has been opened in Sharjah’s Hamriyah Free Zone to serve oil trading, manufacturing and engineering firm Sharafco Group.

The facility, which has 16 storage tanks with a capacity to store 80,000 cubic metres of oil, is equipped with sophisticated equipment, according to state news agency WAM.

Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, director of Hamriyah Free Zone Authority and Sharjah Airport International Free Zone said the facility was proof of the zone’s credentials as a logistics centre for the upstream oil and gas industry.

“The starting of operations reflects Sharafco’s strength and determination to continue our ambitious growth plans into the international market. We are confident that, with continued support from Hamriyah Free Zone and our staff, we will achieve our ambitious goals,” said Sharfudheen Mohammed, Sharafco Group managing director and CEO
