Emirates flight EK521 crash landed in Dubai airport with 300 people onboard

Emirates chairman and CEO Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum has confirmed that all 300 people onboard the Emirates EK521 aircraft which crash-landed on Wednesday are safe.

Flight EK521, operating from the Indian city of Thiruvananthapuram to Dubai, crashed when landing at the Dubai International Airport at about 12.45pm local time.

Pictures and videos showed fire and smoke bellowing from the aircraft.

In a statement on posted on YouTube, Sheikh Ahmed said that the airline did not yet have all the details related to the accident.

“We will always try to answer queries from the families of passengers and crew,” he said.

“We have activated our emergency centre here and have extended our full support to the authorities,” he added.
